Where did the name Jayanti come from?
Jayanti
(Jay – an – ti) noun
A feminine Sanskrit word meaning, “Victorious”.
When Carly and Ranjiv began their quest to fulfill Carly’s dream of owning a salon, they decided to name it “Jayanti,” the Subramaniam family name and also a feminine Sanskrit word meaning, “victorious.”
Born in Malaysia, near the end of WWII, Ranjiv’s Auntie Jayanti was named by her parents in an act of Faith that the Allies would soon be victorious and that the Military Occupation of Malaysia, then known as Malaya, would conclude at last.
We fondly remember Jayanti for being the epitome of beauty, elegance, and grace. She was successful in business, wore the highest fashion, and had the most beautiful hair! We thought it would be fitting to name our Salon after a beautiful, female, entrepreneuress.
